Australian National Reiki Awareness Week 2019 runs from the 8th of November until the 17th – inclusive. During this week you might find your local practitioner(s) offering free introductory treatments for Reiki. If you were curious about what Reiki is and what the Reiki experience is like this is the time for you. To paraphrase Molly Meldrum: “Do yourself a favour” and make a booking for a seated treatment (or seek out a friend who practices Reiki) and experience it.
Usually during a seated treatment you will relax in a chair, upright, with eyes closed while the practitioner places their hands on you. The precise locations can vary from practitioner to practitioner depending on their training and whether they use foundational hand positions, intuition or both. For me when using foundations it is crown, 3rd eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral chakra and hips. If you have a particular area of discomfort I will place the hands there for a period of time.
The most immediate effect of Reiki treatments are that they are relaxing physically, relieve stress and tension, thereby offering a relief valve for emotional pressure. Depending on your needs Reiki can relieve pain and discomfort, offer insight into mental and emotional blocks, and bring insights both material and spiritual. Reiki enhances clarity of mind and eases decision making through building confidence.
If you would like to make a time to see myself, one of my chairs and experience Reiki:
